Supervisor - Environmental (Natural Gas Distribution and Production)

Job Summary

This position supervises environmental compliance coordinators supporting gas distribution and exploration and production operations in a multi-state region (Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Colorado) and reports to the Manager, Business Unit Environmental Compliance. Responsible for multi-media environmental compliance field support including air, chemical, oil, water and waste programs. Support environmental regulatory compliance programs, including environmental compliance plan development. Provides leadership to develop staff in improving skills, knowledge and abilities. Manages effective relationships with Operations, Engineering and corporate environmental staff to ensure consistent  interpretations/implementations of environmental regulations, etc. and resolve compliance issues.

This position will be located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Relocation may be authorized for the successful candidate of this requisition.

Responsibilities
•    Responsible for coordinating work assignments, supervising internal staff and contracted resources to facilitate multi-media environmental compliance support, and provide training and tools to implement compliance programs
•    Conduct environmental self-assessments to ensure environmental compliance and provide recommendations for process improvements.
•    Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal for assigned facilities.
•    Serve as the primary site coordinator and as a liaison with external regulatory agencies regarding environmental issues.
•    Serve as the company contact with the local public and community to resolve environmental complaints and problems.
•    Provide environmental training to operations personnel to comply with environmental permits and regulations.
•    Manages budgets and goals for the team.
•    Ensure staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide emergency response. support to address spills and releases at company sites and facilities.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications
•    Bachelors Degree and 7+ years of directly related exp or,
•    Associates Degree and 9+ years of directly related experience or 7 years of directly related experience plus 4 years of indirectly related experience (11 years total); or
•    High school diploma and 11+ years of directly related experience or 7 years of directly related experience plus 8 years of indirectly related experience (15 years total); or
•    Military Service Members/Veterans ranks from E7-E9, W1-W5, or O3-O6; 4+ years directly related experience

Directly related Experience includes: Field Operations, environmental auditing, environmental regulation familiarity and implementation; multi-media environmental compliance program implementation experience

Skills: leadership; interpersonal; decision making; effective verbal and written communication; scheduling/time management; budget management; computer skills (strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite);problem solving 

Abilities: adaptability; deal effectively with internal and external customers; make effective decisions; team building, facilitation

•    Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive. (Licensed to operate a motor vehicle or capable of obtaining license)
 
Preferred Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline) and 7+ years directly related experience.
•    3+ years supervisory/project lead experience
•    3+ years previous experience in natural gas distribution/transmission operations, or natural gas pipeline environmental compliance experience

•    Natural gas pipeline construction environmental oversight experience
•    Air Compliance/LDAR experience.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor , Other Education: Biology, Chemistry
