Overview

Who We’re Looking For - Staff Accountant/Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant you will contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting, add and maintain fixed assets within GL system, perform reconciliations, help maintain and control the general ledger expense and balance sheet accounts, perform journal entries that include sophisticated calculations, complete related account reconciliations, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and review financial statements.

This position will provide support and analysis for our Portent entity in areas of forecasting, revenue, expense and accounts receivable.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure expense related journal entries are calculated and entered in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist in reconciling financial accounts
  • Track daily cash flow
  • Perform and troubleshoot complex expense allocation calculations in Excel
  • Assist with monthly close process and year-end audits
  • Perform detailed review of financial statements each month, researching and providing specific answers for unexpected trends
  • Assist with budgeting & forecasting
  • Ensure SOX compliance and provide support for internal and external audits
  • Add and maintain fixed and intangible assets, working with purchasing employees from throughout the business
  • Assist in other areas of accounting and special projects as needed

What You Need:

  • Accounting Degree & 1-5 years relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with complex reconciliations, fixed assets, and prepaids preferred
  • Agency accounting experience a plus
  • CPA a plus
  • Digital Literacy: Proficient knowledge of Excel (index/match, vlookup, pivot tables, If/And/Or etc.) and other MS office applications; experience using Oracle preferred.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical/accounting concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and amortization.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Detailed knowledge of account reconciliation and general accounting procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to meet deadlines in a professional manner; working additional hours as needed.
