Underwriting Account Manager

 

Position

The underwriting department at WCF has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as an Underwriting Account Manager reporting to the Manager, Underwriting. This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, based out of the Sandy, Utah Headquarters. This position is open to internal and external candidates. This position includes work from home flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned underwriters in the process of receiving, reviewing, documenting, and servicing business to enhance underwriter productivity.
  • Prepare new and renewal accounts for timely underwriter review, including completion of risk analysis worksheets, pricing indications and communications with agency staff to procure required information.
  • Manage in-force book of business through reports, timely handling of requests, discussions with underwriters on book profitability and other actions as needed.
  • Bind quotes, update and upload documents as needed and handle agency and customer phone calls and emails.
  • Team with underwriting assistant to issue policies, endorsements, and other items according to service requirements while managing system created events, as assigned.
  • Run and review with underwriters' reports necessary to manage and grow a profitable book of business.
  • Solid understanding of state and bureau website, regulatory requirements, and the importance of compliance.
  • Provide a high-quality product delivered within service requirements and assist underwriters and team to accomplish team and department goals.
 

Qualifications

The most qualified candidate will have:

  • Commercial multiline underwriting experience required with an emphasis on workers' compensation;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong MS Office skills required, especially in Excel;
  • Ability to work under pressure and without direct supervision;
  • Excellent customer service skills; inquisitive and curious;
  • Intrinsically motivated. Identifies the benefits and opportunities of change and quickly alters approaches to implement and support change efforts;
  • Technically competent in commercial insurance principles and terminology.

An internal candidate should have six months in their current position. Candidates should have acceptable job performance and a good attendance record in their current position and must notify their current supervisor that they've applied for the position.
