Position: In-Kind Donations Volunteer Intern 
Internship Term: September 2021-May 2022
Hours/Week: 10-15 Hours Per Week
Compensation: $11.00 per Hour
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer, Nora Trinidad-Scholle

Position Summary
The In-Kind Donations Program Intern position is an exciting new internship that will
assist in the redesign and the facilitation of the YWCA Utah’s in-kind donations volunteer
program. This intern will have a set project to build a solid foundation for the new in-kind
donations volunteer program including various platforms and technologies to facilitate
volunteer recruitment, scheduling, training, collaborating with program staff, and
communicating with volunteers. This role provides outreach and engagement to recruit
volunteers and aids in building a sustainable, meaningful, and engaging volunteer
program. The In-Kind Donations Operation Intern is charismatic, welcoming, tech savvy
and takes initiative. They will help to create a brand-new program from the ground up and
their role is vital to the restructuring of the program, implementation of tools and
technology to create systems and processes, and the management of volunteers.

 

Essential Functions
• Supports Volunteer & Intern Programs Coordinator with facilitating the volunteer
program.
• Helps track volunteer hours, tasks, and other metrics as needed.
• Work with program staff to provide volunteer support.
• Supervise volunteers & provide support/recognition.
• Help to build an in-kind donations volunteer schedule.
• Develop process and procedures in terms of a comprehensive in-kind donations
volunteer cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, recognition, etc.
• Recruit, train volunteers.
• Develop roles to effectively run our in-kind donations program.
• Work collaboratively with In-kind Donations Operations Intern.

Physical & Sensory Demands
Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods
of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with volunteers and
participants; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or
finger movement. Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs
routinely.
