Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 224 North 2200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84116 

Status: Non-exempt, full-time with full benefits 

Hiring Range: $17.00-$18.50/hr DOE

Job Description:  

The primary function of the position is to help refugees become self-sufficient by assessing, training and orienting them to the employment process. Networking with potential employers and maintain relationships with them is an essential responsibility that supports the primary function. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

  1. Participate in assessment of each refugee adult client, and conduct pre-employment job readiness training as described by the Match Grant Guidelines. 

  1. In close coordination with case managers, design employment plan, follow-ups, service integration, and agency collaboration to meet the needs of each client.  

  1. Help clients work toward their employment goals while finding employment that helps them become financially self-sufficient. 

  1. Network with the public and private sectors for new employment and training opportunities. 

  1. Assist clients with application processes including creating resumes. 

  1. Arrange for interviews for employment placement.  Provide transportation for the interview, orientation, and first day of employment. Provide interpretation for these events if possible.  

  1. Follow up with both the client and employer after initial employment to ensure the satisfaction of both parties. 

  1. Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports in compliance with regulations of the program. 

  1. Schedule time and interviews for clients that comply with the benchmarks and regulations of program. 

  1. Maintain timely and accurate case notes and other case file documentation. 

  1. Cooperate with case managers and other CCS staff, state agencies, and other service providers as necessary, in providing reports, documents and other such paperwork. 

  1. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings. 

  1. Other duties as assigned.  

 

Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc. 

  1.  This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. 

  1. Some local travel is required.  

 

Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving 

  1.  This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. 

  1. This role includes driving locally to apartment complexes and meetings. 

 

Skills, knowledge and abilities: 

  1.  Excellent business networking and English communication skills: verbal and written 

  1. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Excel and Word, to maintain case files, complete documentation, and schedule appointments and correspond using Outlook 

  1. Experience with multi-cultural populations and the refugee community 

  1. Ability to work independently in safe and appropriate manner 

  1. Problem solving and problem prevention skills 

  1. Able to be sensitive to the needs of clients, client’s families, visitors, co-workers, volunteers and other persons with whom the employee may interact 

  1. Recognize time as a valuable resource and respond promptly to needs of clients, and co-workers  

  1. Consistently perform work assignments in a time-efficient manner and adheres to deadlines. 

  1. Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients 

  1. Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients; and compassion and graciousness in helping clients to assess and face their situations and accept assistance 

  1. Ability to speak Farsi/Dari, Pashto, Spanish, Swahili, or Kinyarwanda is preferred. 

 

Education, training and or experience:   

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience. 

  1. Prior case management or job development experience is preferred. 

 

Background Screen/BCI requirement  

  1.  Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background check. 

 

Licenses, certifications and credentials  

  1.  Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety and auto insurance requirements. 

 

Position status and expected schedule    

  1. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and non-exempt. 

  1. Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5 PM with occasional evenings and weekends.
