Warehouse Driver


Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 437 West 200 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt with full benefits
Salary Range: $13.00-$15.00/hr DOE

Job Description:
Drive the box truck to pick up donated food commodities on scheduled days from local donation sites. Also, deliver the lunch and dinner meals to the resource centers daily. Manage the products inside the kitchen warehouse, coolers, and freezer, keeping them organized and clean.
Responsibilities include:

  1. Drive truck to various food outlets in the Salt Lake Valley on scheduled days.
  2. Deliver lunch and dinner meals to the resource centers.
  3. Load donated food items into the truck.
  4. Keep the kitchen warehouse clean and organized.  
  5. Communicate with the kitchen manager regarding any commodity exchange.
  6. Pick up food commodities from the Utah Food Bank and LDS Bishop’s Storehouse.
  7. Load/unloading donated/exchanged food commodities.
  8. Maintain accurate documentation of donated items from each trip.
  9. Keep daily mileage records.
  10. Perform daily safety checks on the truck(s) used each day.
  11. Operate forklift when needed.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
  1. Able to work outside and inside in cold and hot conditions.
  2. Use caution when working near icy and slippery conditions.
  3. Use the necessary personal protective equipment while operating equipment.
  4. Use caution while working in the kitchen near hot equipment and sharp objects.
Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving
  1. Ability to stand for hours at a time.
  2. Ability to safely lift and move objects up to 100 lbs.
  3. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  4. Driving is required in this position.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  1. Able to work independently both safely and appropriately.
  2. Able and willing to work as a team player.
  3. Has sensitivity to the clients’ needs.
  4. Able to deal appropriately with donor location staff.
  5. Knows Health Department requirements for handling food commodities.
  6. Has proficient English oral and written skills.
  7. Able to lift 100 pounds.
Education, training, and or experience:  
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Familiar and supportive of the mission of CCS and the Basic Needs programs
Background Screen/BCI requirement
  1. Must pass a background check
Licenses, certifications, and credentials
  1. Food Handlers Permit
  2. Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements
  3. Able to obtain Utah DOT medical card
  4. Forklift certification preferred
Position status and expected schedule  
  1. This position is full-time and non-exempt.
  2. Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
