What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a highly extroverted, organized Community Specialist who enjoys working with people and anticipating their needs while surpassing their expectations with ease. You will be the operations lead at The Shop with a contagiously positive attitude and superior attention to detail. The ideal candidate is an expert at communicating clearly with fellow staff, members, prospective members, and guests in a friendly, diplomatic manner. As part of our small staff, you are a devoted team-player committed to The Shop’s success and growth. Like the entrepreneurs who co-work with us, the Community Specialist must be highly flexible, adept at multi-tasking, and able to take initiative quickly to resolve issues seamlessly. The ideal Community Specialist will have a knack for operational excellence, hospitality and maintaining the largest shared workspace in Salt Lake City.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Confidently maintain space, equipment, and amenities to the highest standard to provide exceptional member and guest experience.
  • Manage and train team to ensure pristine cleanliness throughout space by executing quality control walk-throughs, identifying issues and their resolutions, while tracking and reporting in detail.
  • Work every day in a dynamic environment to build community amongst our members.
  • Ensure all member and building issues are documented and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Manage The Shop’s Marketplace inventory and display.
  • Facilitate a world-class hospitality experience for everyone that walks in the door.
  • Manage member beverage program from vendor management to use reports.  
  • Facilitate physical move-ins and move-outs with ease.
  • Curate and assist with member and non-member bookings and event schedules and manage the set up and breakdown of events.
  • Provide superlative customer service to members and guests including troubleshooting and resolving member issues with patience and professionalism.
  • Assist with front desk coverage, greet and check-in members and guests, address inquiries, answer phones, and direct traffic comfortably.
  • Assist with member orientation activities, new member onboarding, and facilitate member connections and positive experiences.
  • Set up and manage property vendors, maintain applicable inventory, manage contracts, identify and recommend solutions to optimize performance.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve amenities, increase revenue, reduce expenses, and/or improve member experience.
  • Support sales and leasing efforts as needed to ensure The Shop’s long-term success.
  • Plan and implement communications internally to members about events, technologies, building updates, giveaway opportunities, etc.

Skills and Experience Preferred and Required:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in coworking, hospitality, sales, customer service or events.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and do several things with constant interruptions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with technology and social media.
  • Collaborative and reliable team player.
  • Warm, personable, and approachable.
  • A knack for creating and implementing organized and defined processes.
  • Passion for entrepreneurialism and community building.
  • Comfortable with multi-platform technology troubleshooting.

  • Computer proficiency including but not limited to Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • May involve moving or lifting items at or about 40 pounds.

Work Hour Requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on company needs. The standard Community Specialist shifts are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and 10 am to 6:30 pm, Monday–Friday, but require flexibility to cover periodic evening events which usually end no later than 8 pm. In addition, Community Specialist must have flexibility to work occasional weekend shifts for event coverage.
