Job Summary

This role is highest ranking position at the company’s new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant, responsible for overseeing the continued operation and maintenance of the plant.  The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in designing or operating processing plants or complex pipeline systems. The incumbent demonstrates exceptional leadership skills in leading a team of plant operators and managing outside contractors. The candidate will also exercise independent judgement, analytical skills, and decision-making in evaluating performance of the plant and developing long-term facility plans. 

This position is responsible for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders in ensuring effective operation of the plant while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local authorities.  The position is responsible for making necessary purchases and maintenance schedules for equipment/componentry. This will require foresight in preparing annual plant operating and capital budgets.  

The candidate who is awarded this position will immediately become engaged with the construction and start-up of the plant. This will require close coordination with the project team, participation in design reviews, witnessing equipment acceptance testing, writing and testing operating procedures and other tasks as needed. 

This position will be located in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:
•    Supervises day-to-day operation of the liquefaction, storage and vaporization processes.
•    Monitors plant equipment and componentry for normal operation.
•    Prepares purchase and service requisitions for required materials and contractor services.
•    Directs maintenance and repair activities as needed, including planning plant outages for maintenance turnarounds.
•    Performs long-term planning for facility, including planned improvements.
•    Generates, tests and periodically reviews standard operating procedures for plant process and equipment.
•    Assesses and monitors staffing levels; performs interviews, hiring, promotions, terminations, employee evaluations and performance ratings.
•    Coordinates and effectively manages training of all plant personnel.
•    Ensures compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
•    Coordinates with company, federal and state authorities on audits.
•    Ensures appropriate housekeeping and tidiness of plant and control room.
•    Maintains accurate facility records through electronic data management systems.
•    Generates and tests, on a periodic basis, plant emergency response plans.
•    Purchases and oversees maintenance of all plant and personnel safety equipment.
•    Reviews and ensures compliance with environmental permits including timely reporting and records retention/management.
•    Maintains accurate chemical and waste manifests.
•    Interacts with local emergency response agencies including fire department, police departments, sheriff departments, 911 centers, government agencies, and neighborhood associations on behalf of the company to prepare for emergency events and maintain positive public standing.
•    Works with Gas Control and Measurement & Control in preparing plant for gas consumption (liquefaction) and send-out (vaporization).
•    Reviews and analyzes performance data to identify best practices and standardize processes.
•    Prepares and manages annual facility workforce, operating and capital budgets.
•    Communicates frequently with manager on key performance indicators of plant.
•    Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of directly related experience
•    Associate degree with 9+ years of directly related experience
•    High school diploma or GED with 11+ years of directly related experience. 
•    Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below)


•    Directly Related Experience includes: chemical process design/engineering, process facility operations, pipeline field operations, gas production engineering/operations, compression engineering/operations, liquids storage or processing engineering/operations, automation engineering, automation diagnostics and field operations, or plant supervision.

•    Skills:  verbal, written and interpersonal communication; strong computer skills; Analytical skills to identify trends, analyze data, identify process improvement opportunities and monitor activity and performance;
•    Abilities:  effectively interact with customers; teaming; detail oriented; ability to lead and coach staff; ability to manage multiple activities, resources, and time to achieve results and meet deadlines; ability to make critical decisions independently and under pressure;
•    Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job: walking, climbing, stooping, bending, prolonged standing, and lifting up to 100 lbs.
•    Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

•    Bachelor’s Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical) and 9+ years directly related experience; OR
•    Associate degree in technical or applied science trade (mechanics, electronics or pre-engineering) and 11+ years directly related experience
•    5+ years LNG or Cryogenic plant design/operations
•    Previous supervision of LNG plant operations and maintenance 
 

Education Requirements

A bachelor’s in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) OR Associate Degree in a technical or applied science trade (mechanics, electronics, pre-engineering) and equivalent experience is preferred; however an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Preferred: DOT 49 CFR 193 (Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities: Federal Safety Standards) Operator Qualification History, GTI LNG Plant Operators Certification
