Posted: 07/08/2021

We are a remote-first workforce because we care deeply about hiring the best talent and supporting the wellbeing of our people.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we leaned into the dual challenges of keeping our people safe and our business healthy. Shifting to work from home taught us how resilient, productive, and successful we are as remote workers.

Now we actively pursue remote hiring, onboarding, and employment. We are hiring remote positions in AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, IL, MN, MO, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.

Who We’re Looking For – Senior Director of Audience Growth & Development (Remote)

The Senior Director of Audience Growth and Development will partner with marketing leaders to craft initiatives that introduce Consumer Brands’ content to new readers while building brand loyalty with their existing audiences. They will be responsible for developing and implementing a content distribution strategy that will extend reach and amplification across Email Marketing, Video/YouTube, and Social networks. Using analytics, research, and insights, the Director will also work with Editorial and Marketing Managers to advise content strategy across the Consumer Brands portfolio to build highly engaged and valuable audiences in each of our key verticals. Finally, this person should also have an eye for revenue, with an understanding of how sponsorships, influencer marketing, subscription models, gated content, and branded product offerings come together to connect our brands to our customers and potential new partners.

The ideal candidate will be someone who deeply understands the digital media industry, is creative, analytical, and strategic, and has the ability to incorporate data and testing into the decision-making process. A passion for helping consumers make better buying decisions should guide your every decision!

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with partners including Brand Managers, Editorial, Video, and Content Strategy to develop and execute data-focused audience growth plans that are consistent with Consumer Brands’ editorial philosophy across a variety of platforms and improve customer monetization.
  • Responsible for developing distribution strategies across multiple platforms that amplify and extend the reach of Consumer Brands’ content via newsletters, social, partnerships, and more.
  • Work with Organic and Paid Social Media Managers to develop social media strategy, creating standard methodologies that grow and optimize the social media footprint and engagement across channels.
  • Work with Editorial Directors and senior leaders to support audience development efforts across all sites, and build a cohesive strategy to support global goals.
  • Develop and supervise newsletter strategy and manage all newsletter products from editorial curation to production, and work with the editorial team on testing and optimization on a continual basis.
  • Work closely with the editorial and content strategy teams to identify new content strategy opportunities, and advise on optimizations, such as with headlines for social media. Lead periodic workshops on standard methodologies.
  • Explore new distribution platforms and, in collaboration with editorial partners, evaluate whether the brand should participate. Communicate standard methodologies for traffic driving and engagement.
  • Work closely with marketing leadership to determine and meet growth and user-focused metrics and ensure that they align with editorial and revenue strategy.
  • Manage overall audience development testing strategy—including consumer funnel optimization, distribution channel mix, and headline and image optimization. Work with Director of Analytics to define measurement and testing strategy, and use analytical deep dives to identify new content opportunities for brand growth.
  • Expand and improve strategies to drive readers to subscribe across all channels, and collaborate with the Content Strategy and Creative Director to improve form placement and web features.
  • Collaborate with editorial partners to grow traffic and engagement for revenue-driving content.
  • Work closely with business and sales teams to package and deliver against sponsorships across distribution channels, including newsletter and social executions.
  • Work closely with product teams to enhance the brand’s web offerings, and collaborate with the Editorial leaders on projects to increase reader engagement, time spent, and loyalty.
  • Identify new growth opportunities based on emerging digital trends, the competitive landscape, and consumer insights.
