Job Description:

Assist the day-to-day client intake activities and related services at the Weigand Homeless Resource Center.


Responsibilities include:

  1. Make sure clients scan-in at the intake desk.
  2. Make sure clients without scan cards complete intake.
  3. Close down the building and lock all doors at the end of each day.
  4. Engage with security guards keeping them informed if safety issues arise.
  5. Keep the WHRC Manager advised of any information or developments that may have an impact on the Agency.
  6. Exercise a "team effort" with both staff and volunteers.
  7. Clean and maintain the main room and bathrooms at WHRC when the janitor is not available.
  8. Enter data into UHMIS.
  9. Coordinate the work of volunteers.
  10. Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
  11. Other duties as assigned.


Work Environment inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.

  1. Clean bathrooms when needed.
  2. Properly dispose of drug paraphernalia when found.


Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving

  1. Ability to move around a large room and yard frequently each hour.
  2. Ability to work on feet for extended hours.
  3. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  4. Salt walkways during winter months.


Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  1. Ability to get along with people.
  2. Ability to approach problem situations with tact and sensitivity.
  3. Ability to listen and consider issues, options, and alternatives to solving a problem.
  4. Must possess the personal qualities of integrity, compassion, and empathy, which encourage the trust, and confidence of others.
  5. Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  6. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Ability to assert authority with sincerity and respect of others.


Education, training and or experience:

  1. Ability to write and communicate effectively in English.
  2. Experience in computer software including, MS Word, Excel, and the internet.
  3. High School Diploma or GED preferred.


Background Screen/BCI requirement

  1. BCI/FBI background check is required.


Licenses, certifications and credentials

  1. None required.


Position status and expected schedule

  1. This position is full-time and non-exempt.
  2. The general schedule will consist of 40 hours to be worked between Monday and Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
