POSITION
The Volunteer Engagement Director leads the UWSL volunteer program and team to engage thousands of volunteers and support student success. This includes working with school partners to strategically link student success goals with volunteer support; assisting in the development, management, and implementation of high-quality volunteer projects; infusing equity into all aspects of the program; and developing and tracking outcome measurements.
 
YOUR WORK WILL INCLUDE

  1. Develop a comprehensive, equity-driven, outcomes-focused volunteer engagement strategy.
  2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the volunteer engagement team, including supervising and coaching team members.
  3. Work with internal and external teams to strategically integrate volunteer engagement into networks and within schools to support student outcomes.
  4. Develop and manage mentor and tutor programs.
  5. Manage large volunteer events, including Day of Caring.
  6. Develop and implement systems to engage donors and the community in volunteer projects. 
  7. Refine strategies to measure, track, and report on volunteer engagement strategies, including overseeing volunteer management software.
  8. Lead internal and external committees related to volunteer engagement.
  9. Oversee the volunteer engagement communication strategy to identify new ways of messaging volunteerism, segment the volunteer base, and target specific asks.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years volunteer or event management experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence 
  • Proficient with Microsoft suites and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and/or early morning work hours
  • Candidates must be able to pass UWSL background check and drug screening to hold this position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is occasionally required to travel to offsite locations to manage volunteer projects and events, attend meetings, and give presentations.
