Position Summary

Rewarding opportunity for a fun, energetic, and loving youth group leader to mentor and support children. Plan and implement of the before and after school care, “activity days” and kindergarten programs, as well as the YWCA’s Lolie Eccles Early Education Center summer camp. Help to create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment. The ideal candidate will be a flexible, hard-working, culturally sensitive team player who is passionate about working with children. Essential Job functions

  • Plan, implement, and facilitate daily activities and behavioral management for the children in the after school, day camps and Lolie Eccles summer camp programs.
  • Assist kindergarten teacher in the daily implementation of school days.
  • Co-facilitate the after-school and day camp and summer camp programs.
  • Teach and reinforce appropriate social skills. Provide feedback, discipline, mentoring and emotional support.
  • Assign, monitor, and reinforce individualized behavioral goals for each participant.
  • Attend the Lolie Eccles staff meetings, kindergarten team meetings, and training sessions as requested.
  • Manage and implement the kindergarten program in the absence of the kindergarten teacher.
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of enrollment materials and daily attendance.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the YWCA facility.
  • Keep all records necessary to ensure that work is conducted in accordance with agency, contractual, and legal requirements.
  • Articulate and promote high ethical and professional standards in all YWCA programs, activities and services and with all agency publics.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, other key publics, and any other organizations and individuals important to the success of the YWCA’s work.

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Knowledge and experience in administrative and/or non-profit operations, programs, policies and protocols.
  • Familiarity with basic budgeting and bookkeeping.
  • Welcoming & inclusive personality
  • General knowledge of direct victim services, violence against women and sexual violence issues; gender and race equity, from a feminist perspective.
  • Understanding of equity, anti-oppression and trauma-informed philosophies.

 

Qualifications

  • An understanding of and agreement with YWCA Utah’s mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to relate in a positive and nurturing wat with children and adolescents.
  • Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.
  • Proficiency with general office duties, computer systems and technology.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete projects within established timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience functioning within multidisciplinary settings.
  • Skilled in establishing effective working relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration.
  • Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • If driving on busienss, a valid Utah driver’s license, access to an automobile, and valid auto insurance required.
