Director. Pricing Actuary

Position

The Finance department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Director, Pricing Actuary. This is a full-time, exempt position in the Sandy, Utah headquarters office. This position is open to internal and external candidates. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

 

Responsibilities

The Director, Pricing Actuary has a variety of responsibilities that support WCF's overall actuarial functions. Those responsibilities include:

• Acts as Actuarial pricing lead and key subject matter expert for assigned line of business.
• Leverages understanding of insurance, product, markets, and regulatory environments to develop and lead pricing, risk selection tools, and modeling strategies to influence business decisions across the organization.
• Applies best practices and actuarial standards to develop and ensure appropriateness of analyses and methodologies used across the business to influence business decisions.
• Conducts regular rate reviews across all products and programs to manage company profitability goals and regulatory filings.
• Effectively communicates highly complex actuarial techniques and results in support of complex business decisions across the organization.
• Support Product Management and market-facing teams through thought partnership on pricing related issues.

 

Qualifications

• Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society or equivalent from another actuarial society.
• Bachelor's degree in actuarial.
• At least eight years of property and casualty pricing and modeling experience.
• Five years of commercial lines pricing experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent people management skills.

 

Ability to hire at the Director, Pricing Actuary level or other actuarial level, depending on experience and certifications.

 

An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, have acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
