You are a natural when it comes to making connections and gaining the enthusiasm and cooperation of others, which will come in handy as you nurture the integration and ongoing development of new hires and volunteers. Each day will be different from the next as you support HR activities that foster an employee, volunteer and client-oriented, high-performance culture. We are Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP), and we are searching for a highly detailed HR & Volunteer Recruiter to play an integral role in building a highly engaged organization that is passionate about elevating our community.

What you’ll need to be our HR & Volunteer Recruiter: 

  • Congenial and cooperative with an efficient, precise work ethic
  • A casual, uninhibited, and persuasive extravert with a tendency for informality
  • A risk-taking, socially poised and motivating team worker
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field with relevant experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources, PHR or SHRM certification recognized

What you’ll do as the HR & Volunteer Recruiter: 
 
Recruitment and selection
  1. Develop and execute recruiting plans. Coordinate and implement recruiting initiatives.
  2. Represent OWCAP at job fairs, volunteer fairs, and on various community boards.
  3. Network with industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employees.
  4. Develop and track measurable facets of the recruiting and hiring processes that are transparent and measurable. Set continuous improvement goals.
  5. Organize and file all job applications as they are received in HR. Ensure application information is entered into a database system.
  6. Use the Predictive Index to assess potential candidates for job fit.
Interviewing
  1. Conduct initial interview using the PI Interview Guide; record and document candidate responses.
  2. Prepare and schedule interview appointments for candidates and potential volunteers.
  3. Coordinate scheduling with an interview panel. Sit on interview panels as requested.
  4. Contact approved applicants with job offers and rejection letters to non-selected candidates.
Background and Reference Checks
  1. Ensure applicants selected for hire submit approval for a Criminal Records Check (CRC), which includes a Child Abuse and Neglect registry check, and state and national sex offender websites.
  2. Enter applicant information into the approved third-party administrator portal to run CRC in order to run fingerprints through the LiveScan System.
  3. Obtain professional and personal references for applicants submitted for hire.
  4. Submit necessary background information for long-term volunteers who meet the requirements.
New Hires and Volunteer Onboarding
  1. Schedule and conduct new hire or volunteer orientation and onboarding.
  2. Send requests to multiple departments for new hire preparations: IT department for Email, network system access, cell phone check out etc., secretarial department for mailbox set up.
  3. Report all training provided during orientation and onboarding to HR.
  4. Provide information and forms for new-hire Onboarding requirements, which include: Tuberculosis, Hepatitis A and B, physicals, and food handlers.
  5. Prepare badges and building access for all newly hired staff
  • Under the direction of the HR Manager, assist in the development and organization of staff and volunteer orientation and training. 
  • Coordinate the pickup and delivery of pantry packs and other community donations as received.
  • Manage and coordinate a portfolio of hands-on volunteer projects—that can be completed both onsite and offsite—by partnering with multiple department managers to plan tasks, allocate resources, and deliver seamless volunteer experiences.
  • Create volunteer dashboards and reports to inform the Board of Trustees.
