Lead Partnership Director

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Lead Partnership Director convenes, facilitates, engages, and supports teams of multi-sector partners including The Partnership Director facilitates, engages, and supports teams of multi-sector partners including civic leaders, school representatives, community partners, community leaders, system leaders and subject matter experts and other key partners to improve educational outcomes.  As a leader within the department, this role includes contributing to strategic direction and team cohesion, and supervisory responsibilities.

 

PRIMARY TASK 

Build relationships, cultivate talent and activate partners to focus on a common result and mobilize their resources to take action together. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Align the support of community members, partners, and volunteers to improve education outcomes 
  2. Model how to empower partnerships to facilitate systemic change 
  3. Coach partners and staff in planning and facilitating productive meetings 
  4. Build greater awareness of systemic barriers related to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and other factors impeding success while interfacing with partner leadership in a spirit of humility and courage 
  5. Cultivate a culture of shared accountability in all initiatives and activities 
  6. Surface opportunities to connect day-to-day efforts to support students and families to broader system levers that can impact many students and families at once 
  7. Lead the creation of result frameworks to guide the work of partnerships 
  8. Contribute to department leadership through development and execution of internal strategies 
  9. Lead the effort to seek perspectives and participation of students, parents, teachers, and people who work in nonprofits, government, and business 
  10. Direct research initiatives that have the potential to impact community outcomes, compile promising practices and assess feasibility for the local context 
  11. Weave relevant data into meetings with partners to help set the direction for the group 
  12. Creates measurement framework for networks to track both population outcomes and progress related to specific strategies 
  13. Models and reinforces the importance of knowing what is working and what is not with his/her/their team 
  14. Contribute to grant writing and reporting, donor cultivation, marketing efforts, advocacy efforts, presentations about our work 
  15. Other related duties as assigned

  • Able to identify and understand the systems in place and how they can be improved 
  • Speak and write fluently in a second language that reflects local community is a plus 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable experience in social impact, facilitation, project management, or equivalent academic experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with partnership groups or schools 
  • Experience coaching and supervising team members to support their job mastery and professional growth. 
  • Understanding of working with K-12 systems.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite, data visualization, and other project management software. 
  • An understanding of the culture and realities of historically marginalized communities in the Salt Lake region. 
  • Speak and write fluently in a second language (especially Spanish) is a highly preferred. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, take in new information, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays in physical and electronic mediums. The team member must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs. 

The employee is required to work primarily in-person, in our UP offices during core business hours Monday – Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Utah’s Promise is currently piloting a 36-hour work week with Friday afternoons off. 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $60,000 – 75,000. Salary commensurate with experience. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
