Summary:
Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP) is searching for a supportive, yet disciplined Teacher to develop and implement comprehensive curriculum that is focused on creating engaging experiences for the children in our Head Start program in collaboration with their parents. As our Teacher, you will take pride in consistently making a meaningful impact on others. You are people-focused and helpful by nature, and will easily build strong relationships with parents to ensure they are equipped with the tools to help their children succeed in their present and future environments.
 
What you’ll need to be our Teacher: 

  • Unselfish and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
  • Accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work
  • Patient, conscientious, relaxed and cooperative team worker
  • An associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degree in early childhood education; or a degree in a field with a minimum of 20 credits in early childhood education
  • One year’s experience in teaching preschool children preferred

Starting Wage – $18.00 – based on education an experience
 
What you’ll do as the Teacher: 
  • Plan; assist with implementation and evaluate daily, developmentally appropriate activities
  • Implement approved curriculums
  • Individualize for each child through ongoing observations and data collection
  • Plan, implement and evaluate daily, developmentally appropriate activities
  • Provide quality teacher-child interactions and work on building trust relationships with all assigned children
  • Set up, prepare and conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences
  • Build quality teacher-parent relationships. Involve parents in curriculum planning and classroom volunteering. Provide information and problem solve to address needs of families.
  • Use and embrace families culture, ethnicity, background and composition
  • Use developmentally appropriate behavior guidance and classroom management skills. Work with inter-disciplinary team
  • Conduct family-style meal and snack times and ensure compliance with Head Start standards; USDA/CACFP, Child Care Licensing, Caring for our Children National Standards
  • Provide guidance and training for substitutes, new-hires and volunteers
  • Provide guidance, training, support and leadership of classroom team. Communicate with team members to ensure functions of the classroom are met
