POSITION SUMMARY? 
The Communications Manager will play a critical role in executing communication strategies to drive engagement and support for UWSL and Utah’s Promise initiatives. This role focuses on creating compelling content for donor-specific communications throughout the year and donor-centric mass communications while supporting overall fundraising goals. The Communications Manager will help execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns and ensure consistent messaging that aligns with UWSL’s mission and brand.?? 

In partnership with Resource Development, Marketing, Program staff, and other internal stakeholders, the Communications Manager will develop and execute strategic donor communications, including newsletters, fundraising appeals, event invitation copy, impact reports, website copy, and donor updates, to support organizational fundraising goals and donor stewardship initiatives.? 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS? 

  1. Serve as a liaison between the Resource Development Team and the Marketing team to ensure efforts are aligned and consistent across all communications touchpoints including social media, print and digital.? 

  1. Ensure Resource Development messaging is included in all external communications.? 

  1. In coordination with the Communications team, develop compelling donor communications to elevate the organizational value proposition and impact to support of fundraising efforts ? 

  1. Create monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication.? 

  1. Monitor fundraising and donor outreach campaign performance and adjust communication strategy based on feedback and data.?? 

  1. Coordinate with the Communcations team to accelerate projects that involve vendors and contractors for the production and delivery of materials as needed.? 

  1. Coordinate with the Communications team to identify and promote donor cultivation events and stewardship opportunities (press releases, etc.).? 

  1. Collaborate with the Communications team to create and execute an established email communication cadence.? 

  1. Collaborate with the Communications team to utilize data, stories, messaging, and more to support Development presentations and reports.? 

  1. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES? 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills, with an ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.? 

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities.? 

  • Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities, keeps job knowledge current.?

QUALIFICATIONS? 

  • 5+ years experience in fundraising, marketing, or communications, preferably in a non-profit environment.? 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - proven skill in Excel? 

  • Experience with CRM and project management software systems (preferably Salesforce and Asana) preferred? 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in applicable field or relevant experience preferred.? 

  • Persuasive writing experience?

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS? 

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, take in new information, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays in physical and electronic mediums. The team member must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs. 

The employee is required to work primarily in-person, in our UP offices during core business hours Monday – Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Utah’s Promise is currently piloting a 36-hour work week with Friday afternoons off. 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

The position is a full-time, non-exempt position with full benefits. $35,000 – 63,000. Salary commensurate with experience.?UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
